OK1HWU

My home is located about 110 kilometers north-east of the capital city of Prague, i.e. Praha in Czech language. I spend a lot of time in here in my home town of Vrchlabi along with my parents OK1FWU and OK1WU. It is also the home of our family amateur radio club station OK1OZY. 

The grid square, aka locator is JO70TP. Our QTH is right at the foothills of the Giant Mountains, i.e. Krkonose Mts in Czech language. More precisely, we are on the side of one of the hills that border the town of Vrchlabi, which we are a part of. An interesting fact about our neighborhood is that its name is 'The Liquor Hill', i.e. 'Lihovy Kopec' in Czech. The name reflects the social activities of the residents of this neighborhood. The entire town of Vrchlabi is known as the 'gate into the Giant Mts'. Vrchlabi is one of the many ski-resorts and is a center of tourism even in the summer.
